  • pokwangComedienne Pokwang isn’t excited at all about the forthcoming visit of her British suitor. “Ay naku, wala ‘yon. Parang wala. Wala eh,” she told Bulletin Entertainment in an exclusive interview during the media huddle for “4 Da Vote,” a concert featuring her and fellow comedians Pooh, Chokoleit and K Brosas on April 19, 20, 26 and 27 at the Music Museum. Her Englishman admirer, whom she met after a show in Las Vegas, is about to pay her a short visit. However, Pokwang doesn’t see herself getting romantic with him despite the gesture. Although “mabait naman siya,” Pokwang stressed, “Wala akong nakikita na siya na nga. Hindi naman ako choosy pero mararamdaman mo naman ‘yun, eh.” The last time she fell in love was more than a decade ago, when her daughter was “beybing-baby pa.” “Ganoon talaga kapag maraming nakapatong na krus sa balikat mo, hindi mo na maiintindi ang mga ganoong bagay.” Although she does not see herself getting into a romantic relationship with the British admirer, “Hindi ko naman sina sabing basted siya,” she declared. “Pinag-aaralan ko pa (kung sasagutin ko siya). Ang hirap kasing magkamali, eh. Baka ang ending nagpakatanga-tanga na naman ako.” Has she become jaded because of her failed two romances? “Siguro” was her curt reply.

In “4 Da Vote,” Pokwang will reprise her Annabelle Rama and Mommy Dionisia comic impersonations, “bilang alam naman natin na si Annabelle Rama ay tatakbo and then si Mommy Dionesia kung ano ‘yung reaction niya bilang tatakbo ang tatlong miyembro ng pamilya niya.”

As an artist, the comedienne highly respects the scriptwriter and the director of the show, but she nevertheless injects some important “inputs.” “Importante ‘yun para mas lalong mapaganda ang show,” she noted.

“Humihingi kami ng advice kung puwedeng i-improve ito. In all fairness kay Mamu Andrew de Real, napaka-supportive niya.” She is cautious when it comes to the content of her material as she doesn’t want to hurt anybody.
