  • How sad that after 31 years, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” will be bidding its viewers goodbye.

“Maalala Mo Kaya” is now part of Filipinos’ lives. When someone’s life story turns tragic or unusual, people readily describe it as “pang MMK” or “pang Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

The sad news was announced last night by the drama anthology’s host, Charo Santos-Concio. With the haunting melody of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” playing as background music, Charo paid homage to the writers, directors, staff, and stars who have lent their talents to the program in the past thirty-one years. Most of all, she said thank you to the show’s loyal following because the program would not have lasted without the viewers. Thirty-one years on the air is an achievement and Charo and the rest of the crew deserve all the praise for the inspirational story that unfolded every Saturday in its whole run.

“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nakaraan at sa anumang paraan na maaari pa tayong muling magkita,” was Charo’s parting shot.

Nearing its December farewell after 31 years on air, “MMK” has made available over 150 full episodes to watch for free on YouTube.

The compilation consists so far of 152 episodes uploaded in full in recent years, both recent and classic titles.
Aside from the select uploads on YouTube, “MMK” episodes remain available for free on iWantTFC.

The longest-running drama anthology in Asia, “MMK” is set to conclude on December 20, with the finale of a three-part episode. (abs-cbn)
