  • Kris Aquino is venturing into the food business as she is set to open a fast food restaurant in Cubao, Quezon City next month. The Queen of All Media will open a franchise of Chowking in a mall in Cubao this November 28. Kris, meanwhile, clarified on Wednesday in the morning show “Kris TV” that the franchise is not part of her contract as an endorser of the fast food restaurant.

“It is my hard earned cash,” she said about her  franchise. “Pera ko ‘to talaga. Hindi ito galing sa talent fee because I felt I would have less at stake kung talent fee lang. So kailangan talaga galing sa pera na pinag-ipunan.” She added that this business is also for the future of her two sons Joshua and Bimby.

“The reason also na pinasok ko ‘to is that I should have several fast food franchises because this is for the future of my son,” she explained. “Kasi parang inisip ko: How much longer can I work at this level that I work? And fame is so fleeting.”

Meanwhile, Kris also hinted about her plan to quit showbiz on 2016, the same year that her, brother President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, will step down from Malacañang. She said that her 18 years in the showbiz industry is already a blessing.

“Sobrang suwerte ko na 18 na years na ako dito. May cutoff din ako. Sinabi ko na after 20 years, sana I can walk away gracefully. Siyempre naman kailangan mabuhay ng mga anak ko.”
Currently, aside from her morning show, Kris is hosting “The Buzz” and “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” and also working on the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Feng Shui 2.”
