So revealed the 43- year-old TV host-actress dubbed as the “Queen of All Media” on her morning talk show “Kris TV” last Monday, April 7. Kris described the 45-year-old Quezon City mayor—who is also an actor and comedian known by his moniker “Bistek”—as “someone special” in a revelation that finally ended all speculations about her current affairs of the heart. And yes, Mayor Herbert had the courtesy to ask her brother, President Noynoy Aquino, for permission to date Kris.
“Weeks before any speculation about us came out, personal po siyang humingi ng permiso sa kuya ko. Ang intindi naman ni PNoy nung time na iyon, may gagawin kaming project para sa Quezon City. Later that same day, nagtext kaming magkapatid, natawa na lang si PNoy na ‘permission to date his sister’ pala ang hinihingi,” Kris recalled.
Mayor Herbert and PNoy are both members of the Liberal Party and won their respective positions under the same political affiliation. Prior to her public admission, Kris posted a photo on Instagram last Saturday, April 5, that showed Herbert having dinner with her family and sitting at the head of the long table.
“Good night. My sons complete me. Family is love, peace and truthfully all my heart will ever need… Better picture collage because both Kuya and Bimb are seen clearly,” went the caption of the three-photo collage that Kris deleted Monday and replaced with a two-photo collage showing just PNoy with Kris and her sons, Josh and Bimby.
Just the same, Kris explained the presence of her latest high-profile admirer.
“My family welcomed him to join us during our get- together because they want to get to know him better. And they also want him to get to knowour family,” she admitted.
In Filipino culture, the kabisera part of the dining table is usually reserved for the head of the family or the guest of honor. How Herbert is seated at the dinner table may be reflective of how he is held in high esteem by the Aquino family.
The revelation likewise ended speculations as to whether Kris was also seeing Derek Ramsay, which the Kapatid actorwas quickto deny. It also came on the heels days of an InterAksyon report that Kris had asked ex-husband James Yap to bring along her Italian girlfriend to Bimby’s birthday celebration this April 19.
“Being friends with your ex shows you two are mature enough to get over the fact that you weren’t meant to be together,” she declared on Twitter. Whether Herbert will also be at Bimby’s birthday bash and exchange pleasantries with James and his new girlfriend remains to be seen. But from the way Kris spoke about the matter on TV, it looks like she has every intention to keep their relationship out of the public eye from hereon. After making the big reveal, Kris promised that it would be the last time she would talk about the matter as she and Herbert intend to keep their relationship private.
“We can strengthen what we have by allowing ourselves to have a chance at forever by keeping quiet and private about what is here and now.
