  • alden-richardsTwo of showbiz’ hottest love teams won big at this year’s PEP List Awards held recently at the Grand Ballroom of The Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The PEP List Awards is divided into two categories: Editors’ Choice and PEPsters’ Choice.

Alden Richards, one-half of phenomenal love team AlDub, won a number of awards in both categories, including Male TV Star of the Year and Newsmaker of the Year.

He also earned the Celebrity pair of the Year plum (together with Maine Mendoza); as with Best PEPTalk Episode.

Note, two shows he stars in, “Eat Bulaga!” and “Sunday PinaSaya,” bagged the Variety Show of the Year and Comedy Show of the Year awards, respectively.

“I never imagined na we will bag so many awards sa PEP. So thankful sa PEP, to all the editors and those who voted for us, especially AlDub nation. This goes to show the AlDub nation spirit still lives,” Alden said in an interview.

“I never take an award for granted,” Alden added. “It’s parang a merit of how good you’ve done with your work and how you were able to touch people’s lives. PEP List is done through voting so it shows their support and love to you. Ang sarap sa feeling talaga.”

Maine was absent that night, supposedly making her way to the US a few days prior to watch a Coldplay concert.

She received three citations including Female Star of the Year; Female Breakout Star of the Year and Newsmaker of the Year.

Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, collectively known as KathNiel, won several awards individually. Kathryn was voted Female Movie Star of the Year and Female Teen Star of the Year; while Daniel bagged the Male Movie Star of the Year trophy.

“Thank you sa PEP sa award na binigay niyo sa amin and sa mga KathNiels na bumoto,” Daniel told media.
Kapuso stars Glaiza de Castro and Ken Chan won Teleserye Actress and Teleserye Actor of the Year, respectively.

John Arcilla, who portrayed the title role in the indie movie “Heneral Luna,” bagged the Male Breakout Star of the Year.

“Salamat. Lalo na sa mga audience na tumangkilik at sinabi sa lahat sa ating mga kapwa Pilipino tungkol sa aming pelikula… Maraming salamat. Higit sa lahat sa ating kasama sa industriya, sana ay pagpatuloy natin ang paglikha ng mga makabuluhang pelikula,” John said in a video message.

Jasmine Curtis and Mikael Diaz hosted the fete.

Angeline Quinto, Christian Bautista, KZ Tandingan, and Gloc-9 performed at the shindig.
