  • Surrey, BC – With warmer than average temperatures arriving, the City of Surrey is reminding residents to take the necessary steps to stay safe in extreme heat, how to spot the signs of heat exhaustion, and where to find public pools, spray parks and air-conditioned civic facilities for heat relief.

“It is possible that extreme heat warnings could arrive this weekend or early next week, and I encourage Surrey residents to prepare for the coming heat,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “The City of Surrey’s air-conditioned recreation centres and libraries are available to anyone seeking relief from the heat. Another great way to cool off is to visit our public pools and spray parks. Be aware of the signs of heat related illness and remember to check on the elderly and those who are living alone. Surrey is a city that is built on helping one another and, together, we can have a safe summer.”

In addition to civic facilities, many of the City’s community partners provide access to community cooling locations for vulnerable populations at several locations around the City.
